God Is Ready to Help You—If You Let Him
My dear brothers and sisters,
Everyone desires to live a good life, often hoping to be rich. This is part of human nature, and in itself, the desire for a better, more stable life is not wrong. God wants His children to lead peaceful, joyful, and dignified lives. Scripture affirms that prosperity and provision can be blessings from God. God does not will for anyone to live in destitution or to suffer needlessly.
However, due to various reasons—social, familial, personal mistakes, or poor choices—some may fall into poverty. Still, God is ready to lift them up. He is ready to help if we open our hearts to Him and cooperate with His grace.
God always desires our good. Yet problems arise when the desire for riches becomes an obsession, especially when we seek wealth in haste or through unjust means. The temptation to become rich quickly can lead us into serious moral danger. Bribery, lying, cheating in business, hiding income, and engaging in unethical industries are examples of shortcuts that lead us away from God.
These actions contradict the way of Christ. They do not reflect trust in God’s providence but instead rely on the ways of the world—and ultimately, the ways of the evil one. Taking shortcuts to wealth may bring temporary gain but will damage the soul.
Proverbs 28:20 teaches: “The faithful will abound with blessings, but one who is in a hurry to be rich will not go unpunished.”
God promises to bless those who are faithful, honest, and committed to a holy life. When we live with integrity, our faithfulness will be rewarded in God’s time and in His way.
Importantly, the Church also recognizes the vocation of those who choose voluntary poverty for the sake of the Kingdom—those who, like Christ, give up material goods freely to follow Him more radically. This is a special calling and not a punishment. Outside of this, God desires to provide for His people.
So let us examine our hearts: Are we rushing to become rich? Are we tempted to use means that are unjust, dishonest, or harmful to others? If so, let us turn back to the Lord. Let us repent of the moments when we prioritized wealth over righteousness.
God is ready to help you live a decent and grace-filled life. But you must allow Him. You must cooperate with His will, even when it requires patience and trust. Let your goal not be quick riches, but faithfulness. Let your desire be not for fleeting wealth, but eternal reward.
Let us place our trust in the Lord—and allow Him to bless us in His time and His way.
